BSF Jawans Carry Pregnant Woman To Hospital In Malkangiri

**Malkangiri:** The family members of Rukmini Bagael had lost hope as she could not be rushed to a hospital in the cutoff area in Malkangiri district despite complaining of labour pain due to non-availability of 102 or 108 ambulance or any other vehicle.

Writhing in pain, Rukmini had to remain stranded at inaccessible Hadela village till a team of BSF jawans, who had gone for a combing operation near Harijanpada forest area, came to her rescue on Saturday.

The jawans, as if sent by the Almighty as His ‘messengers’, put the patient on a stretcher and carried her on their shoulder for about 8 km to their camp. She was treated by the military doctor and delivered a baby boy inside the camp. She was later shifted to the Kandagaon hospital.

The 41 battalion jawan were lauded by the villagers and doctors for the efforts of the BSF jawans. BSF is not only to protect the villagers from Maoists but also remains prepared always to meet any emergency for the safety of the denizens, said DIG JC Naik.
