Kalimela (Malkangiri): Security personnel belonging to 142 Battalion of the BSF on Tuesday during a combing operation in Kamarguda forested area in Materu panchayat under Podia police limits in Malkangiri district have recovered five landmines. Thus averting a major tragedy targeted at security personnel by the Maoists.
According to reports, BSF personnel detected the landmines with the help of metal detectors during a combing operation inside Kamarguda forested area.
Later, the bomb disposal squad was requisitioned. The squad successfully defused the landmines.
