Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough in its operation against Left Wing Extremism (LWE), BSF personnel unearthed two Maoist dumps containing a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the Bejangiwada reserve forest area under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district on Thursday.
According to an official press release, the seizure from the two dumps includes 7 SBML guns, 2 sealed tiffin IEDs, 4 hand grenades, 2 solar panels, 1 domestic LPG cylinder, 500 steel balls and 20 mtrs electric wire.
The dumps were unearthed during a joint operation by BSF troops of COB Badigetta, COB MPV21, Tactical Hqrs of 142 Bn BSF and the Intelligence team of Sector Hqrs BSF Malkangiri.
The dumps were concealed within rock cavities nestled in the Bejangiwada reserve forest, at about 1.8 km from the connecting road axis of village Sana Tekguda -Bejangiwada, near village Elakanur, GP-Kurmanur under PS Limits of Kalimela District Malkangiri.
Earlier these areas were highly influenced by Maoists and their sympathizers. The Maoist outfits used to keep IEDs, IED-making materials and Arms in isolated places to harm the security forces and police operating in this area.
