Malkangiri: BSF personnel today unearthed an old Maoist dump in the Gomphakonda reserve forest near Marigetta village in Bodigetta panchayat under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district.
According to an official press release, acting on specific information, BSF personnel carried out an operation in the general area of Gomphakonda reserve forest leading to the recovery of a huge cache of explosives and other Maoist items.
The seizure includes 20 improvised hand grenades, 108 gelatin sticks, 25 electric detonators, 04 bundles of safety fuse, 10 Naxal’s synthetic belts, 09 pairs of stars (rank) and whistles, 02 books of Naxal literature and 01 cast iron hand press machine.
In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations would continue to make the area safe for security forces as well as locals.
Earlier this area used to be highly influenced by Maoists and their sympathizers. The Maoist outfits would keep IED making materials in isolated and secluded places to prepare IEDs to be used against the security forces and police operating in these areas. BSF is actively operating in Malkangiri district and extensively dominating the area.
