Bhubaneswar: Odisha government’s flagship health assurance scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) turned out a saviour for Lata Dehury, a destitute woman hailing from Baijapada village under Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar district.
35-year-old Lata, a spinster was left helpless after her parents passed away. With her health condition deteriorating every passing day due to some unknown disease, she had almost become an invalid.
Coming to know about her condition from media reports, the BSKY team reached her and took immediate steps for her treatment.
Following instructions from Keonjhar Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO) a health team from Harichandanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) reached Lata’s home, did a preliminary health check-up of her and got her admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Keonjhar.
Following a detailed medical examination at the DHH Lata was diagnosed as suffering from anaemia and had developed an ovarian cyst.
Presently, she is undergoing treatment at bed no. 72 of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward of the district headquarters hospital.
In the meanwhile, she has been administered with blood transfusion and is being provided with high-quality medicines and nutritious food.
Gradually her health condition is improving and doctors treating her have expressed hope that she will recover soon. Orphaned spinster Lata has been included under the BSKY.
She has expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for ‘Mukhyamantrinka Swasthya Seva Yojana’ saving her life.
Locals have expressed their happiness over the speed at which treatment could be provided to a destitute woman.
