Rayagada: Burglars decamped with valuables worth lakhs from the house of a policeman here.
According to reports, burglars by breaking open the iron grill of the house of Anup Kumar Satpathy in Sai Priya Nagar decamped with three gold necklaces, 12 gold lockets, four pairs of gold ear pendants, four gold rings, silver idols of Laxmi and Ganesha, 500 gm silver articles and Rs 50,000 in cash.
Satpathy is posted as an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police at Kesinga police station. While Satpathy stays at his place of posting, his family stays in their house at Lane No. 11 of Sai Priya Nagar. On Tuesday his family members had gone to Kesinga after locking the house behind them.
Satpathy on hearing from his relative that burglary has taken place at his house, informed the police. On being informed JK Pur Chandili police with a scientific team rushed to the spot and are investigating the matter.
