Nabarangpur: As many as eight masked miscreants barged into a teacher’s house and looted valuables worth Rs 8 lakh at gunpoint at Dangarbheja village under Sadar Police limits in Nabarangpur district on Tuesday night.
According to the police complaint, Rohit Behera’s family was residing as tenants in the house of businessman Sunil Sahu. Miscreants broke open the lock of the house in the dead of night. Out of the eight miscreants, six had carried guns while two had carried swords. They threatened Rohit and his family at gunpoint before decamping with gold ornament and valuables worth Rs 7 lakh.
After Rohit filed a complaint with Dangarbheja outpost, a police team led by Nabarangpur police inspector-in-charge Sambit Kumar Behera, assistant sub-inspector Sambit Kumar Behera reached the spot and began investigation into the burglary.
In a separate burglary, miscreants looted Rs 50,000 and gold ornaments from the house of Duryodhan Behera, a resident of Khilingi village under Patapur police limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday night.
