The arrests were made in connection with Brahmani Tarang Police Station Case No. 411, dated October 7, 2025, registered under Sections 331(4)/305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, the case was registered following a written complaint lodged by one Babuli Sahoo (52). During the course of investigation, a scientific team collected chance fingerprints from the crime scene, which upon verification, matched with those of Suresh Lohra, a known offender from Kudeikela under the Lahunipada Police Station limits.
Further investigation revealed that Lohra was a habitual offender and had been involved in several similar burglary cases under the jurisdictions of Bisra, K. Balang, and other police stations in Rourkela Police District.
Police said that Lohra, along with his associates Birsa, Anil, and Rohit Induwar, had carried out multiple house burglaries in areas under Brahmani Tarang and Bandamunda Police Stations.
Subsequent raids led to the recovery of six television sets, 1,300 grams of silver ornaments, 70 grams of gold ornaments, and two motorcycles from the possession of the accused and the receivers of the stolen property.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of the accused in other unsolved burglary cases within the district.
