Bhubaneswar: At least four passengers sustained critical injuries after a bus in which they were travelling overturned as the driver allegedly fell asleep near Begunia in Khurdha district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred when the bus was travelling from Phulbani to Bhubaneswar. The driver fell asleep and lost control over the wheel. As a result, the vehicle overturned on the roadside near a petrol pump on Khurda- Baghmari road.
The injured four people including the driver were rescued by local people and sent to Khurda district headquarters hospital.
The driver’s condition is stated to be critical. Other passengers were discharged after primary treatment.
Begunia police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, traffic on the road was disrupted for quite some time.
