Balasore: As many as two persons died and ten others sustained injuries when a bus collided with a stationary truck carrying paddy near Laxmanath Toll Gate on National Highway-60 in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to reports, the bus, named Dolphin, was traveling from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata when it crashed into the truck from behind. The truck was parked on the side of the road, and the collision caused significant damage to the bus’s front cabin.
The deceased include helper Narsingh Khatua, who died on the spot, and driver Seikhk Abdul, who was rushed to the Jaleswar Community Health Centre where he died while undergoing treatment. Over 10 passengers were injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The bus was carrying over 50 passengers, and fortunately, many were able to escape with minor injuries. Police are investigating to ascertain the cause of the accident.
