Buses Go Off Roads In Baripada As Private Operators Launch Strike In Protest Against Assault Of Bus Owner

Bhubaneswar: Private buses went off road in Baripada as part of the bandh called by the Mayurbhanj Bus Owners’ Association in protest against the assault of a bus owner among others.

As many as five persons including a bus owner were critically injured after a group clash ensued between two groups over the route permit and running time of a private bus at Baripada bus stand on Friday night. The two groups engaged in a bloody clash with knife stabbing and fight which left five persons injured.

Three among the five injured persons were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

The outfit president, meanwhile, threatened to continue the stir till the arrest of miscreants who assaulted a bus owner and his aides.

Common people with travel plans to their hometowns and other places on the occasion of Snana Purnima are, meanwhile, facing a hard time due to the strike.

Baripada Town police detained 10 persons from both the sides.

It is learnt that Mayurbhanj Collector is on leave while District Superintendent of Police has not visited the injured persons in the hospital to take stock of the situation.
