Kendrapara: A businessman was severely injured in an attack by miscreants in Odisha’s Kendrapada town on Saturday night. He has been admitted to a local medical center, and the police have registered a complaint in this connection.
According to reports, Mir Khadim, a cloth merchant, was sitting at the cash counter in his cloth shop around 9.00 pm on Saturday, when a group of masked miscreants attacked him with deadly weapons. They chased Mir Khadim when he left the shop and ran for safety. The miscreants also unleashed terror on the street for some time before fleeing the spot.
Meanwhile, the Kendrapada Town police have detained one person in connection with the crime and are interrogating him. While the police said that the attack was a fall-out of an old enmity, sources in the know said that earlier some people demanded an extortion sum of Rs 10 lakh from Mir Khadim but he refused to oblige them. The attack on Saturday is said to be a fall-out of this.
The police, meanwhile, have launched an investigation into the crime and initiated a search operation to nab the miscreants.
