Dhenkanal: A young businessman dealing in minor minerals was killed in a shootout in Alatuma village in Kamakhyanagar of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Wednesday late night.
The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Sahu. His body was found near Malband railway bridge under Kamakhyanagar police limits with bullet wounds in the chest and neck.
According to reports, Sahu was accused of the murder of Deepak Mahant, a member of the Barua committee in 2021. He was released on bail recently after spending six months in custody.
However, the reason behind the Kamakhyanagar shootout is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary investigation suggests that Sahu was a victim of an old enmity.
