Bhubaneswar: As by-election to the Tirtol and Balasore assembly seats are slated to be conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on November 3, BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today began campaigning through video conferencing from here for the party candidate.
Taking precautions amid the pandemic protocols, he addressed the voters through the virtual poll campaign.
Greeting the people of Tirtol by invoking presiding deity Maa Sarala, the Chief Minister said, “Odisha is a model state in the entire country so far Corona management is concerned. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also appreciated our thrust. This has been possible only for the dedicated service and sacrifice of our Covid warriors as well as the cooperation of our people. Hence, I thank you all. Let’s keep on following the Covid guidelines and defeat Coronavirus.”
“I know you all love me very much. Today you would have assembled at my Tirtol meeting, but it isn’t just amid the ongoing Covid situation. For this reason, I decided to meet you through video conferencing keeping in view your safety and security. After Corono gets eradicated, I’ll make a special tour of Tirtol to meet you and review the development work,” he explained.
Canvassing for the BJD candidate, the supremo said, “Last year, you had made Bishnu Babu victorious with a huge margin. Sorrowfully, he is today not among us. He used to meet me several times pertaining to Tirtol’s development. He also gave me several proposals for solving your problems. The people of Tirtol have been with the Biju parivar since long.”
He informed, “Work has begun for construction two big bridges on river Mahanadi. We also aim for the development of education, health and other infrastructures. We are also taking steps for flood control in your area.”
“In the last eight months despite the Covid situations, lots of industrial investments have been made in Odisha. Our priority is to create new employment opportunities for our youths. Our State Government has been providing Re 1 per kg rice since pretty long time. I want that no one should be deprived of the Food Security Scheme. The women of our Mission Shakti have done laudable work in the Tirtol area. I’m extremely happy for that. I’m always with you all,” mentioned the CM.
Before concluding his poll campaign speech, the Odisha CM said, “I request you all to vote for the Biju Janata Dal candidate for furthering the ongoing developmental work in Tirtol. Please follow the Covid precautions while going to the polling booths as your lives are very precious for your families as well as for me.”
