Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet today approved four proposals out of the five agendas placed before it in its meeting today, informed Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy here today.
Tripathy said that the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik deferred one agenda concerning the Higher Education department.
Briefing on the other agendas that were placed before the Cabinet, the Chief Secretary said that two agendas were from the Finance department, one was from Works department and the other was of the Parliamentary Affairs department seeking formal post facto approval to convene the fourth session of the 16th Odisha Assembly which was already taken on the directions of the Chief Minister.
Briefing the media on the two proposals of the Finance department approved by the Cabinet, Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena said that one was a proposal for Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and replacement of Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 and Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
In the proposed Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2020, 12 sections and Paragraph 4 of Schedule II of the OGST Act, 2017 shall be amended and Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020(Odisha Ordinance 5 of 2020) and Odisha Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 (Odisha Ordinance 6 of 2020) shall be replaced, Meena clarified.
He added that the Bill will be placed before the Odisha Assembly in its forthcoming Monsoon Session for adoption.
Meena said that the other proposal of his department was for amendment of the Odisha Local Fund Audit Act, 1948 to include electronic mode of service of surcharge notices and orders on the delinquent govt. officers/officials by making the notices and orders etc. available in the HRMS portal of the State Government in addition to the existing manual modes of service.
Works Secretary Krishan Kumar said that the Cabinet approved a proposal for construction of the high-level bridge over river Subarnarekha at 36th Km on Haldipada (NH-16) to West Bengal Border via Baliapal-Pantei & Chandaneswar in the District of Balasore under Central Road Fund Scheme through EPC Contract.
The proposed bridge shall provide a direct link between Baliapal Block and Bhograi Block and also connects the economically and culturally important places i.e. Subarnarekha mouth port, Chandaneswar and Bhusundeswar etc.
