Bhubaneswar: Clearing air on the potential changes in the Odisha cabinet, BJP state president Manmohan Samal clarified that cabinet expansion was not on the agenda during his recent meetings in the national capital.
According to sources, Samal had left for New Delhi on Tuesday. During his visit speculations were rife that Samal headed to New Delhi to hold discussions with the BJP high command on various issues, including potential cabinet reshuffle.
When questioned about the possibility of a cabinet expansion, Samal categorically stated that no such discussions occurred during his meetings with the party high command.
Instead, Samal revealed that the discussions focused on organizational matters of the party. He announced that a new organizational committee of the party will be formed soon, indicating a major overhaul of the party’s structure.
“We discussed various organizational matters of the party. There was no discussion about cabinet expansion. There is a meeting today as well, and we will discuss organizational matters,” Samal told to reporters following his return from New Delhi.
Clarifying the nature of his recent meetings, Samal said that his interactions with central leaders, including a meeting with the President of India, were purely courtesy visits.
