Bhubaneswar: In a significant decision aimed at improving the functioning of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) facilities across the state, the Odisha Cabinet has given its nod to two important proposals under the Labour & Employees’ State Insurance Department.
The Cabinet has approved the framing of the Odisha Employees’ State Insurance Scheme Ministerial Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2026. This new cadre rule has been introduced to properly regulate the recruitment, promotion, and overall conditions of service for persons appointed to the Odisha Employees’ State Insurance Scheme Ministerial Service Cadre.
These ministerial staff will serve in various ESI Hospitals and Dispensaries throughout Odisha, ensuring smoother administrative operations and better support for healthcare delivery under the ESI Scheme.
In a related move, the Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Odisha Employees’ State Insurance Medical Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2014.
The amendments are designed to streamline the recruitment process, bring greater fairness in evaluation methods, and align the rules with current examination practices and administrative requirements. This will help in making the selection process more transparent and efficient for medical officers serving in the ESI setup.
