Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet has given its approval for the implementation of the “Small Animal Development” sub-scheme under the Prani Sampad Samruddhi Yojana (PSSY), a state sector scheme of the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department.
The scheme, which will be implemented over four years from 2025-26 to 2028-29, has a total budget outlay of Rs 294.36 crore. It aims to benefit 23,735 farmers, including women’s self-help groups (WSHGs), and is expected to result in an additional production of 12.25 thousand metric tons (TMT) of meat per year.
The move is part of the state government’s efforts to meet the rising demand for meat and meat products. The Prani Sampad Samruddhi Yojana already has another sub-scheme, “Poultry Development,” which was approved by the State Cabinet earlier.
