Keonjhar: A calf in Keonjhar district was severely injured after it accidentally ingested a bomb meant for wild boars in the forest.

The incident occurred in the Darakhola village of Kolimati panchayat under Ghasipura police station in Anandapur sub-division.

According to reports, unidentified miscreants allegedly hid a bomb in a food packet and placed it near the Atei Reserve Forest, aiming to lure and trap wild animals, particularly wild boar, as part of illicit hunting activities in the area.

The calf, belonging to Bhima Munda, had wandered into the nearby forest to graze when it ate the bomb, thinking it was food. The bomb exploded in the calf’s mouth, causing severe injuries.

It is pertinent to note that the area is predominantly inhabited by tribal communities, and the calf has not received medical treatment yet.

There are demands for an investigation into who planted the bomb and for necessary action to be taken.
