Bhubaneswar: The memory chip, that purportedly contains some controversial photos or videos that led to the murder of cameraman Manas Swain by her ex-employer Sarmistha Rout and her associates, still remains untraced.
A team of the Crime Branch on Monday had visited the house of Manas at Godipokhari under Ranapur police limits in Nayagarh district. The team interacted with his family members and sought information regarding his personal belongings.
While Manas’ family members identified his half-burnt footwear and earphone, the team did not find the memory chip that allegedly contains one or more ‘objectionable’ footage.
According to the Crime Branch, three accused persons including Sarmistha have confessed to the crime and shared crucial details during scene recreation. The CB has also stumbled upon incriminating evidence at different locations including Chandbali, Bhubaneswar’s Dayal Ashram, Ranapur and a spot on Daitari-Paradip Expressway.
Swain, a resident of Godipokhari village in Ranapur area of Nayagarh district, was working as a cameraman for a Bhubaneswar-based web portal ‘Sampoorna’ run by Sarmistha. He was allegedly kidnapped while returning from Chandbali on February 7. His body was exhumed from Badhipatna village under Ranapur police limits on March 12.
