Bhubaneswar: The jawans of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) conducted a flag march in Bhubaneswar on Sunday ahead of the impending Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly elections.
While one company of CAPF jawans carried out the flag march from Raj Mahal Square to Sishu Bhawan Square in the city in the afternoon, they are expected to conduct the flag march 2-3 times a week till the elections are over. The security forces will especially focus on the slum areas and its residents. According to reports, the security drill was undertaken to curb criminals and anti-social activities in the capital city.
The CAPF jawans comprised Assam Rifles, BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, NSG, and ITBP.
Already 15 companies of CAPF have been deployed in 15 districts of Odisha in the first phase and 50 companies of the security force are scheduled to arrive in the state in the next phase.
The Election Commission plans to deploy 3.4 lakh CAPF jawans across the country during the elections.
