Bhubaneswar: The number of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar will soon increase to 40, announced Aparajita Sarangi, Chairperson of Capital Hospital Rogi Kalyan Samiti and Bhubaneswar MP, on Tuesday.
Currently, the hospital has 16 ICU beds, with plans underway to add 24 more.
“A significant number of people are visiting the hospital for dialysis, with approximately 1,432 cases recorded each month. Each bed is currently being utilized for three sittings per day. Today, we made an important decision to have the Director of Capital Hospital and his team develop an action plan to increase the sittings per bed from three to four per day. This will enable more patients to access dialysis services. Presently, there are 16 ICU beds, but this number will be increased to 40 in the coming days,” said Sarangi, speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Governing Committee of the Capital Hospital Rogi Kalyan Samiti.
During the meeting, it was also decided to reopen the Mission Shakti Café at the hospital by handing over its operations to a women’s self-help group. Additionally, steps will be taken to expedite the ongoing construction work at the hospital.
