Baripada: Three youths had a narrow escape from death when the car in which they were travelling caught fire after dashing with a tree on the roadside near Chamakpur village under Thakurmunda police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Friday afternoon.
Out of the three youths, one has been seriously injured in the accident. The seriously injured youth identified as Charan Kumar Mahant alias Vicky has been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack after being provided with preliminary treatment at the Thakurmunda Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to reports, Chittaranjan Nayak, Charan Kumar Mahant alias Vicky and Kamala Krushna Mahanta of Badgaon village under Karanjia police limits were travelling in a car to Bhubaneswar.
The car crashed with a tree on the roadside near Chamakpur village under Thakurmunda police limits and caught fire. Locals rescued them from the burning car by breaking open the windshield of the car and rushed them to Thakurmunda CHC.
As Charan’s health condition was critical he was shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack after preliminary treatment.
Fire Service personnel from Thakurmunda Fire Station and local police on reaching the spot doused the flames. By the time they reached the spot, the car was completely gutted.
