Car Rams Into Overcrowded Market Place, 6 Injured

**Bolangir:** An over-speeding car rammed into an overcrowded market place on Monday evening here injuring around six people out of which two are stated to be critical.

A Tata Zest ran into the crowded Kanshari Pada Chhak of Bolangir around 7:30 pm on Monday injuring the six people.

Two of them, Sanjukta Patel and Rama Patel, are stated to be critical and are admitted into Burla VIMSAR Hospital whereas the four others, Abdul Sayeed, Udhaba Mallik, Phanibhushan Majhi and Saarthi Barua are being treated in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here.

The driver, Gobind Singh Deb, lost control of the car and it overturned near the Hanuman Mandir of Bikarm Chhak.

The locals soon overpowered him and thrashed him.

He was later handed over to the police.

Rumours were that two children were also injured, which had angered the public but it was refuted later, sources said.

“We have detained the driver following the outrage of the locals. Now the situation is under control. After proper investigation, action will be taken against the accused,” said Prasanta Patnaik, Inspector-in-charge of Bolangir Town Police Station.
