Puri: Indian Coast Guard has directed the owner of Malaysian Cargo vessel Jin Hwa 32 to ensure prevention of oil leakage from the ship. Jin Hwa 32 was on its way from Bangladesh to Vishakhapatnam when it the ship was caught in a storm and drifted to Odisha coast.
The vessel ran aground at Rajhans, near the mouth of Chilika lake after developing a technical snag. The ship carrying cargo from Malaysia had unloaded its shipment in Bangladesh and was on its way to the Vishakhapatnam port to pick up new cargo.
While the ship is stuck at Rajhans, the Indian Coast Guard, Puri district administration and district police is keeping a close watch on the situation. According to sources, a team of technicians are attending to the snag in the vessel.
“The situation is under control. The area where the ship is stranded is not habitated. The ship would resume its journey once it is fit to sail,” Puri SP, Umashankar Dash said.
