Cash-Doubling Fraud: 2 Nabbed In Bhadrak; Cash, Car, Fake Currency Notes Seized

Bhadrak:   Two persons have been arrested by the Basudevpur police for allegedly involved in a cash-doubling fraud that lured the gullible public to deposit Rs 10 lakh and get back the double amount of Rs 20 lakh.

The arrested fraudsters have been identified as Priyaranjan Nayak of Mahanga in Cuttack district and Bijaya Das from Derabish in Kendrapara district.

The two miscreants fell into the police dragnet when they were about to dupe one Nirad Das for which the duo had been in interaction with Nirad at a location on the NH-16 stretch in Badhrak district.

Earlier, Nirad had received a call from the two fraudsters, but he was suspicious of their modus operandi. Hence, he intimated the local police station and a trap had been laid accordingly.

Police sources informed that over Rs 70,000 cash has been seized from their possession. The seized cash even has fake currency notes amounting to some thousands. A white colour Suzuki car and mobile phones have also been seized.
