Bhubaneswar: Elections to 28 Assembly seats under the Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Berhampur parliamentary areas will be held on May 13, state Election Officer Nikunj Bihari Dhal said addressing the media on Thursday.
Dhal said that the number of women voters is high in the four parliamentary constituencies that will hold the election on May 13. A total of 6,284,649 voters will assert their right to vote on that day.
The Chief Electoral Officer has appointed three observers for these four parliamentary constituencies and they will monitor the entire election process. Dhal said that they will focus on the expenses of the candidates separately.
Altogether the state Election Office has received 587 complaints from the C Vigil app from these parliamentary constituencies out of which 582 complaints have been resolved. The state election officer said that most of the complaints were regarding posters and banners.
Similarly, various items worth Rs 118.65 crore have been seized since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. These include Rs 2.7 crore cash, drugs worth Rs 18.19 crore, Rs 43.69 crore worth of marijuana and brown sugar, and Rs 7.17 crore worth of gold.
