Bhubaneswar: The CBI arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of Military Engineer Services (MES) from Paradip for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor.
The accused has been identified as Rajiv Ranjan Reddy.
According to the CBI, Reddy had demanded the money from the complainant’s relative for “forwarding the bio-data of six persons from the complainant’s firm to the Office of GE(I), MES, Bhubaneswar.”
This was for the purpose of formal approval relating to the work order. CBI laid a trap and held Reddy red-handed while accepting the graft money. Searches at the office and residence of the accused were conducted and incriminating documents were recovered.
The accused was produced today before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Bhubaneswar, the CBI stated.
