CBI Books RSP Official, Pvt Company Directors And Others In Rs 99.47 Lakh Cheating Case

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Senior Operative (T&RM Department) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a private company based at Gottivalasa, Garugubulli (Andhra Pradesh) and others in connection with a cheating case.

According to the CBI, the private company (Dinesh Das & Sons Mines & Steels Pvt. Ltd., Gottivalasa, Garugubulli, Andhra Pradesh) represented by its Directors (Dinesh Chandra Das, Tarak Nath Das and Tanmay Nath Das) during April, 2015 to April, 2018 entered into a conspiracy with RSP official Languli Charan Behera and others and cheated RSP to the tune of Rs 99.47 lakh.

“Unknown officials of Rourkela Steel Plant and South Eastern Railway and others,” have also been booked in this case.” The Central agency conducted searches at three places on the premises of accused at Rourkela and Rairangpur. Further investigation is continuing, the agency added.

The supplier submitted raw material bills enclosing forged weighment sheets purportedly issued by South Eastern Railway, by inflating the weight of raw material (Quartzite) and thereby supplied and claimed higher payments (through the bills), the CBI stated.

“In furtherance of this conspiracy, the Senior Operative of RSP accepted and processed these bills submitted by the supplier alongwith forged weighment sheets and accordingly, excess payment of Rs 99,47,121 (approximately) was made to the supplier, causing loss to Rourkela Steel Plant,” the CBI added.
