Bhubaneswar: A high-profile Delhi-based fraudster was arrested by CBI at Biju Patnaik International airport here. Dwibendu Maharana accused of orchestrating a massive investment scam worth crores of rupees, was intercepted by immigration authorities upon his return from Abu Dhabi.
According to CBI sources, Maharana allegedly floated shell companies in Delhi, enticing unsuspecting investors with promises of high returns. After collecting substantial sums, he fled to Dubai to evade law enforcement. A lookout notice had been issued against him by a CBI court following multiple complaints.
After being detained at the airport, Maharana was handed over to the Airport Police Station for questioning. Sources indicate that he hails from Cuttack district. The CBI is now conducting a thorough investigation into the financial irregularities, focusing on tracing the flow of embezzled funds.
