Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday conducted a raid at an online examination centre in Bhubaneswar as part of its ongoing probe into the alleged Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam.
A 20-member CBI team carried out extensive searches at the online examination centre. Officials said absconding accused Gobinda Tripathy is reportedly linked to the examination centre.
The role of the Techno School centre came to light during the interrogation of 114 candidates arrested in connection with the scam. The agency conducted the raid to collect crucial evidence and documents, scrutinising registers and other records at the premises.
Preliminary investigations suggest that candidates were allegedly charged around ₹15 lakh each to manipulate the examination process. Their roll numbers were reportedly rescheduled, enabling them to appear at designated centres where arrangements had been made to facilitate unfair practices.
Sources indicated that special arrangements were made for select candidates at the Techno School examination centre.
The agency has already filed a chargesheet in a CBI court against 17 arrested accused, including Shankar Prusty, Muna Mohanty, and Suresh Nayak.
Officials said further details are likely to emerge as the investigation progresses.
