**Bhubaneswar: ** Elusive Mir Sheruddin, managing director (MD) of the blacklisted Green Ray International chit fund firm, now in the dragnet of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after being arrested at Kolkata airport, will be brought to Odisha on transit remand for probing into his Odisha links.
Mir Sheruddin hails from Sasanbag under Jaleswar in Balasore district. He founded the Green Ray International in 2004. While its headquarters was at Jaleswar, branches were opened across the country. Floating various schemes, he has allegedly duped investors Rs 500 crore. Apart from his brother Mir Tahiruddin, Ayub Shah and Khalik Shah were the directors.
Following raids on chit fund companies across the country in 2013, this company had got vanished overnight and the directors had gone underground. However, Chhattisgarh Special Investigation Team (SIT) apprehended Ayub Shah from Rajasthan’s Ajmer two years ago. He was later brought to Odisha by the CBI for grilling six months back.
With the arrest of kingpin Mir Sheruddin, the aggrieved investors now feel elated.
The ponzi firm had its influence mainly on the neighbouring states of Odisha and West Bengal.
On Friday, a group of duped investors from West Bengal assembled at the gate of the CBI office here. They have come here to lodge complaint and demand justice from the CBI.
