Bhubaneswar: In view of the hike in examination fees for Class X and XII examination by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday dashed a letter to Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to look into the matter.
While stating the sharp hike in the examination fees has caused resentment among parents and other stakeholder, he also added that the abnormal rise, specifically of the fees in respect of SC & ST students by 24 times has come as a shock.
“You may know that Odisha Government has opened more than 200 English Medium Model Schools affiliated to CBSE in rural areas for the benefit of economically and socially under-privileged sections of the society. This decision is bound to result in acute harship to them,” stated the CM.
While requesting Nishank to prevail upon CBSE to reconsider their decision in the interest of people, Patnaik said, “I hope and trust you will look into the matter personally and do the needful.”
Yesterday, the State-level Parents Organization had written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking his intervention in the matter.
