Jharsuguda: In an intriguing turn of events, a miscreant was caught red handed as he was trying to escape from the bank premises with Rs 45,000 withdrawn by a woman on Friday afternoon.
This incident occurred in Jharsuguda’s Bank of India branch. Notably, a woman named Bhagabati Singh had withdrawn the amount from the counter when a youth offered to help her in counting the cash. When he caught hold of the money, he tried to flee the spot but was stopped by the security guard of the bank.
The miscreant identified as Sajjad Ali (21) tried to even dodge the security guard and catch a city bus.
“He tried to snatch my gun and jump into a running bus. I ran behind him shouting and took the help of a passerby in motorcycle. Hearing my noise, the bus stopped and forced the thief to alight. The public had gathered by that time and he was nabbed,” said Kirtimaan Kharsel, the security guard.
He is now in the custody of the police who is investigating the matter.
