Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer of Malkangiri in connection with a disproportionate assets case. He was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Jeypore for possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
“In this connection, Koraput Vigilance registered a case against Rao, and booked him under Sections 13(2), 13(1)(b) and 12 of the PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018,” the Vigilance stated.
On Tuesday, the Vigilance conducted searches at five places in Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts and unearthed assets worth Rs 2.21 crore. Investigation of the case is in progress, the Vigilance added.
