CDPO Gets 3-Year Jail Term In Bribery Case, Fined Rs 20,000

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Bhawanipatna on Friday sentenced Bijay Laxmi Marandi, former Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the ICDS Project in Sinapalli block, Nuapada district, to three years of simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 in a bribery case.

Marandi, currently posted as CDPO of Parjang block, was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the PC Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant. The bribe was solicited for clearing bills and releasing payments related to the supply of Chhatua.

Following her conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now seek her dismissal from service by approaching the competent authority.
