Baripada: At least 12 persons were critically injured after a cement-laden truck carrying them overturned in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the accident occurred on the Bhimkund-Kendujiani road under Thakurmunda police station limits. The truck was en route from Khandabandh to the villages of Sarubil and Asanbani.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, causing the truck to overturn. Eleven workers, along with the driver, sustained serious injuries as they were pinned under the vehicle.
All the injured were immediately rushed to Thakurmunda hospital. The condition of at least four persons was reported as critical, prompting their transfer to Ghasipura hospital for further treatment as their health worsened.
