Berhampur: Three days after cement trader Krushna Chandra Parida was brutally murdered in Hansapur, his bride-to-be committed suicide at the same spot where the former was killed. The woman consumed poison near a temple following which she was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed.
The woman, according to local people, was peeved with police inaction pertaining to Parida’s murder, and resorted to the extreme step. “She said that she was going to the temple. She consumed ‘sulfas’ on the premises of the temple, the same spot where her future husband was killed,” said Subas Chandra Sahoo, a native of Hansapur.
The duo were to get married on May 13 but fate took a tragic turn and Parida was murdered, allegedly over business rivalry by miscreants on Friday night. “Police had detained a few people, but freed them. The prime accused is yet to be arrested,” said locals who staged a protest by blocking Chhattrapur – Tara Tarini main road on Monday.
