Bhubaneswar: The 11-member Central team which is on its second visit to Fani-hit districts met Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here on Friday. The team, led by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Vivek Bharadwaj called on Padhi after completion of their tour to Puri, which was worst-hit by the cyclone.
Padhi said that the team’s first visit on May 11 to make an assessment of the damages. “After their first visit we submitted a memorandum to the Centre with a request of an assistance of Rs 5,200 crore approximately,” he said.
“Today the Central team was on a tour to Puri and they have shared their inspection reports with us. We are hopeful that the team will recommend our demands for assistance and relaxations for Odisha to the Union Government,” the Chief Secretary added.
Speaking to mediapersons, Bharadwaj said that the first visit was very productive as the members got a first-hand experience of intensity of the damages inflicted by the calamity.
“This time we made and assessment of the amount of work undertaken by the State Government within the intermediate period. More work needs to the done. The Centre and Central Team is with the people of Odisha and the State Government.”
“We will try our best that Odisha gets maximum help from the Centre,” he added.
