Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has planned to launch a Unique Identity system for students to check the menace. Chairman of National Educational Technology Forum (NETF), Anil Sahasrabudhe said this while interacting with the media on the sidelines of the G20 3rd Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting here today.
There is an urgent need for putting in place an Education Ecosystem Registry. The students should be provided with Aadhaar-based unique identity, he said.
The unique identity will enable a student to save all his information at one place, apart from allowing them not to fill the admission forms while changing educational institutes in the same state or elsewhere. The authenticity of students can also be known through the system.
Draft documents of the proposed system has been shared on the website for feedback from people till May 5. The registration will begin in August and Unique ID will be linked with Aadhaar card. This digitalisation not only bring transparency but also curb the use of fake certificates to secure a job, he said.
