**Bhubaneswar:** Pointing fingers at the efficacy, beneficiary selection and allotment of cooking gas, under Ujjwala Scheme, the Biju Mahila Janta Dal (BJD’s women’s wing) today demanded a white paper from Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, BJD Women’s Wing president Minati Behera sought 50 percent subsidy for BPL beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme in Odisha.
Since the scheme is linked with the Internet and Bank Accounts, the BJD had earlier stressed that banking infrastructure and connectivity should be strengthened.
“Initially it was said that the District Administration would be selecting the Ujjwala beneficiaries. However, later it was found that BJP leaders at the Block levels chose beneficiaries of their choice suiting the saffron party’s vote bank,” Behera said.
She added that the beneficiaries are not turning up for a second refill and the subsidy amount is not being refunded to their accounts systematically.
