Bhubaneswar: Union Women & Child Development (W&CD) Minister Maneka Gandhi on Friday met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi and both held discussions on the issues relating to the well-being of women and children in the State here.
Soon after the important meeting, the Union W&CD Minister told media that focus will be given to tackling malnutrition problems found among the women and children in Odisha.
The Odisha CM in his reactions extolled Gandhi’s positive response to the demands of Odisha.
Briefing media, the CM put forth Odisha’s demand for a Juvenile Justice Academy and for sanctioning of Rs 250 crore for building further 3385 Anganwadi centres across the State.
He also asked the Union W&CD Minister for okaying the State’s proposal for having an Anganwadi centre at the human habitat having even below 150 population yardstick.
The Odisha Chief Minister also demanded hike in the allowances being paid to the Anganwadi workers and helpers.
