Bhubaneswar: Centurion University in long-standing partnership with LTIMindtree CSR, has inaugurated the latest edition of its flagship initiative — the “Empowerment” Skill Development Program. This collaborative effort, now in its 11th year, aims to train and place 800 rural youth in gainful employment over the coming year.
Building on the success of previous years — where over 2,000 economically disadvantaged candidates have already been trained and placed — this new phase begins with 50 students receiving hands-on training in two high-demand trades: Assistant Electrician and CNC Operator. The initiative is designed to equip Odisha’s youth with industry-relevant skills, paving the way for sustainable livelihoods.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Jitender Ghangas, Regional Director – CSR and Sustainability (East), LTIMindtree, whose presence reflected the company’s strong commitment to inclusive growth and community empowerment.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Nayak, Pro Vice Chancellor of Centurion University, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of industry-aligned skill training. “The ‘Empowerment’ program is a critical step toward enhancing employability and transforming lives through practical learning. We deeply value LTIMindtree’s continued partnership in driving this mission forward,” he said.
Ghangas shared LTIMindtree’s vision behind the collaboration: “We believe in creating lasting impact where it matters most. Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen rural communities by enabling youth with the tools and training necessary for economic independence.”
Centurion University, recognized for its pioneering integration of skill development with higher education, continues to play a vital role in shaping Odisha’s future workforce. The partnership with LTIMindtree CSR reinforces this commitment by bringing advanced training, employment support, and strategic mentorship to underserved communities.
Also present at the event were Debasish Panda, CFO, Centurion University; Sanjeev Mishra, Sr. General Manager (Projects); and Swagatika Mohapatra, Dy. Managing Director, GramTarang, who have each contributed to the seamless execution and vision of this initiative.
With the “Empowerment” program, Centurion University reaffirms its dedication to building not just careers, but communities — one skill at a time.
