Bhubaneswar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha Sushil Kumar Lohani today briefed District Electoral Officers, Returning Officers and other officials of Jagatsingpur and Balasore districts on the use of various Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Applications to be used during the bypolls to Balasore and Tirtol Assembly constituencies, said an official press release issued by the CEO’s office today.
The CEO during the course of his meeting with the district officials of both the districts via video conferencing reviewed the extensive use of postal ballots.
Lohani advised Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to expedite visit to houses of voters who are above 80 years of age and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) till 14th October and provide them with Form-12(D) to apply for the option to exercise their franchise through postal ballot.
Similarly, the CEO reviewed how easily service voters can exercise their franchise through Electronically transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS).
Because of Covid-19 pandemic, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has allowed candidates and political parties for making online applications and grant of permissions.
Candidates can file their nominations online and get a printout and get it notarized and deposit the same with Returning Officer.
Similarly, candidates and political parties can apply online for the ground to hold meetings, mike and vehicles through Suvidha App.
How vigilant citizens can alert the Returning Officer on any violation of model code of conduct using the c-Vigil App also figured during the meeting.
The general public can download this App from the Google play store/App store and can upload a video clip of any incident of violation of model code of conduct within five minutes prompt action will be taken by the concerned official.
Further, the publication of final voters list and booth list of 38-Balasore and 102 Tirtol Assembly Constituencies through ERO NET was discussed at the meeting.
