Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Traffic Police are intensifying efforts to curb traffic violations, with Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Tapan Kumar Mohanty announcing stricter enforcement measures on Saturday.
Over 1,800 challans, amounting to approximately ₹18 lakh, are being issued daily to violators based on footage captured by Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled cameras installed across the city, Mohanty added.
Mohanty revealed that the department plans to further strengthen traffic monitoring in the coming days to ensure compliance with regulations.
To bolster these efforts, the Traffic Department has deployed 136 trained ex-servicemen to manage the city’s 250 traffic posts. These personnel, equipped with traffic management training, are assisting in maintaining order and addressing violations effectively, Mohanty said.
The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to leveraging technology and skilled manpower to enhance road safety and discipline in Bhubaneswar.
