Bhubaneswar: The Road Transport & Highways Ministry is currently upgrading the Chandikhole-Bhadrak section of the Kolkata-Chennai Golden Quadrilateral corridor to a six-lane highway with paved shoulders.
This road spans the states of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu and serves as the primary arterial road linking the coastal areas of Odisha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said today.
“It accommodates interstate traffic carrying various agricultural, manufactured, and industrial products, as well as local mining traffic. The highway also provides connectivity to popular tourist destinations such as the Maa Biraja Temple, Sveta Baraha, Bhadrakali Temple, Aradi Akhandalmani Temple, Chandbali river port, Dhamnagar, and the Dhamra Port of Bhadrak District,” Gadkari added.
“Under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow while also augmenting the road capacity, speed, and safety” the Minister added.
These upgrades will match the benchmarks for National Highways and contribute towards the economic development of the region, in addition to boosting interstate goods and passenger movement, the Union Minister informed
