Chandipur DRDO Spying Case: Four Accused Were ‘Honey-Trapped’

Balasore: The four contractual employees at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Chandipur in Balasore district, who were arrested on charges of spying and sharing information related to National security with an international agency, were reportedly honey-trapped.

The accused persons have been identified as Basanta Behera, Hemanta Mistry, Sk Musafir, and Tapas Ranjan Nayak. They had a link with a woman who had reportedly lured them to pass sensitive information pertaining to national security to an intelligence agency of a neighbouring country.

Based on credible input, they were tracked by tracing a phone call over which sensitive information was being shared by an intelligence agency of a neighbouring country. A special team of Balasore police had detained the four on Monday night. They were formally arrested on Tuesday evening.

A case has been registered against them under Sections 120-B/121-A/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They were forwarded to Balasore SDJM Court today.
