Sambalpur: The charred carcasses of two elephants were retrieved from Dhama Forest Range here today morning. A team of the Special Task Force (STF) carried out raids at particular spots in Tabalei – Deogaon reserve forest and Kolkagaon reserve forest from where the jumbo carcasses were recovered.
The remains of the two elephants have been sent for autopsy and a case has been registered. Whether the elephants were killed for tusks is yet to be ascertained. However, sources said, the jumbos were burnt to destroy evidence, said sources. A probe has been initiated and manhunt launched to nab the accused
