Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday distributed 8,000 bicycles to community partners working in urban areas at a programme organised at the convention hall of Lok Seva Bhawan. Swachh workers, Swachh partners, food workers, Jalsathis and supervisors received the bicycles.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the State Housing and Urban Development Department and Mission Shakti Department.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that their partnership has made Mission Shakti a successful programme. He said that he is going to different areas of Odisha and meeting Missionary Mothers and is impressed by their confidence and enthusiasm. This has made Mission Shakti a number one successful programme.
The Chief Minister said, “Mission Shakti has taken up many responsibilities in community participation programmes in different cities. Saying that everyone is happy with their work, the Chief Minister said that the state government is giving them bicycles so that they are able to fulfil their responsibilities better and more easily.
The Chief Minister expressed also happiness over the work of the State Department of Housing and Urban Development and Mission Shakti.
In the programme, two Mission Shakti workers Padmavati Das (nutrition worker) and Sita Murmu (volunteer) narrated their experiences and said that they have become self-reliant and have solved the small problems of their families due to the Mission Shakti programme.
