Bhubaneswar: A secretary-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja was held at Lok Seva Bhavan which discussed the presentation of the general budget for 2024-25 in Odisha. The meeting also discussed the preparedness for the “9th General Council meeting of Niti Aayog” to be held in New Delhi on July 27.
The meeting also discussed the “4th National Chief Secretaries’ Conference” to be held in November in New Delhi, which is related to the agenda in the context of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”.
The State Planning and Coordination Department presented a presentation on Odisha’s status in the ‘Sustainable Development Goals-India-Index-2023-24’.
The meeting discussed various issues such as a hunger-free society, good health, quality education, gender equality, cleanliness, drinking water, integrated irrigation, and adoption of programs in view of climate change. The financial performance of the state as of June 2024 was also presented.
Chief Secretary Ahuja emphasized the preparation and implementation of 5-year plans and programs, the 100th anniversary of the formation of a separate Odisha province in 2036, and the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047. He advised secretaries to focus on various issues of economic growth, agriculture, education, irrigation, water, industrial-friendly environment, the welfare of people, development of land, and employment opportunities in the state.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of various schemes where there is a need for inter-departmental coordination. The Chief Secretary directed the secretaries to address the public grievances within a stipulated time limit.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, and Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar with secretaries of all their respective departments and commissioners attended the meeting.
